The Neyegel romper suit encourages the child to activate the midline of the body and supports the training of eye accommodation

Immediately after birth, sight is the least evolved sense in a newborn baby. Between 1 and 3 months of age, the infant can only see at a distance of 60 cm and begins to track moving objects with his or her eyes. The baby can best see strong contrasts at this stage.

Promote your baby’s visual development with Neyegel. Develop your child’s body awareness and engage his or her two cerebral hemispheres. Spend quality and fun time together. Encourage the toddler to stretch the arms and join them in the centre line while in the tummy position.

The black sleeves contrast with their surroundings, therefore they are easily noticeable. As babies stretch their arms out, the wings on the Neyegel’s sleeves attract their attention and invite them to explore, bite, grasp and join their arms in the midline of their bodies. To make exploring the big new world easier, the non-slip prints on the forearms support propping up and exercising the abdominal muscles. Make sure that your toddler has a firm and stable base.

We have created our romper suit from a soft cotton knitted fabric designed by Magda with Karolina’s original illustrations. The nickel-free press studs on both sides make it easy to put the garment on and also encourage symmetrical nursing, extremely important in your baby’s development.

Fostering visual development? What to pay attention to? What helps best?

A baby’s eyesight only starts to adapt to new surroundings after birth. Gradually, with each passing day, the child has better visual acuity and a higher perception of objects of different distances. Interestingly, the baby initially sees the parent as a blur, so it is a good idea that you make yourself seen against a contrasting background, e.g. a dark one.

It is worth considering the positioning of the lighting around the crib so that the light streams do not dazzle or irritate the baby. Apparently, wellplaced lamps that suit adults can be incredibly disturbing to the little one.

Contrasting colours are just what your baby’s eyes need, and the-black and-white Neyegel assists with this matter. The white sleeves contrast with the surroundings, so your child learns to focus the eyes on closer objects and builds body awareness. In this outfit, the movement of the hand in the darker surroundings is easily noticeable so the child better understands that it is his or her own hand being moved.

Joining hands in the midline of the body? Why is it so important?

Connecting the hands in the centre of the body has a significant impact on building body schema, but it is also necessary for both hemispheres of the brain to work together. With this skill, the child will be able to lie symmetrically, look with both eyes, grasp toys under visual control, and turn over in the future. Once he or she learns to cross the centre line, learning to crawl and walk will be much more enjoyable. A lack of the ability to join hands in space can make it much more difficult to achieve independent eating, writing, reading, or the previously mentioned walking. It is thus so important to develop in the child the ability to achieve hand grip in space. The contrasting colours and the design elements at the sleeves will encourage the baby to learn the skill.

Lying on the stomach and connecting the arms in the midline of the body?

Lying on the tummy promotes the joining of the arms in the midline, and this contributes to achieving self-support on the forearms. In our garment, the non-slip sleeves are a particularly useful addition, making it easier for the child to push off. In the belly position, the baby gazing at the extended hands has to put in a lot of effort to stabilise the trunk and not fall over, and as an effect, he or she lengthens the cervical spine and strengthens the abdominal area.
