The Olsense sweatshirt stimulates the senses of hearing, touch, and sight.

At the beginning of a child’s life, every day is a great adventure explored with all the senses. The touch of the parents, the calming voice of the father, or the familiar smell of the mother teach the baby about the surrounding world. Appropriate stimulation of the senses contributes to the dynamic development of nerve cells, which will help the child to associate and memorise more effectively. Talking, touching, and building relationships are all important.

Olsense is a true friend that supports the toddler in his discovery of the world. It is equipped with components such as diverse textures, ribbons for grasping, and a rattling cuff to influence sensory experiences. In the company of Olsense, the child develops the senses by experimenting with new structures and sounds while having lots of fun.

We have created the Olsense cream-coloured sweatshirt from soft cotton with antibacterial hemp fibres. Knitted fabrics designed by Magda with original prints by illustrator Karolina.

Sensory experiences? How to stimulate a child’s senses?

Polysensory stimulation moulds the child’s senses such as sight, smell, taste, hearing, and touch. At birth, the senses of smell and taste are best developed, and this is due to stimulation already in the womb. The baby swallows the foetal waters and thus learns the different tastes. Another sense that has its origin in the womb is touch, the foetus gets to know its body in a cramped space. Hearing is also active – the baby receives auditory stimuli in the womb, although these are muffled by the foetal waters. The least developed sense is sight. Its rapid development is observed immediately after birth. At first, the baby sees contrasting colours such as black, red, and yellow. The acuity is formed first, followed by the depth of vision needed to judge space.

Stimulation of depth can occur through exploring different textures with similar colours. The baby learns to differentiate between structures, perceive spatiality, and move in relation to objects.

Olsense provides your child with the sensation of different textures and structures. Before you dress your baby let him or her grasp the wings and touch the raised textures on the sweatshirt. Direct the little one to find the secret filling in the sleeve. When you put the sweatshirt on, place and extend your hands in the opening and then pull it over the baby’s head from back to front. This will neutralise any uncomfortable feeling when getting dressed.
