Teethany
- Long-sleeved bodysuit
The Teethany romper suit is an indispensable teething helper and a grip educator.
The teething period is often a difficult journey for you and your little one. Swollen and reddened gums, restlessness and your baby’s crying can keep you up at night. Teethany comes to the rescue!
Did you know that gripping and speech development have a lot in common? The centres in the cerebral cortex responsible for both these functions are adjacent to each other. Inconspicuous grasping, touching, pulling and waving develop fine motor skills, thereby mobilising the part of the brain responsible for the future babbling such as ma-ma, da-da, etc.
In the pocket of our romper suit lives Teethany. Although it has wings, it will not escape – it is attached to the suit. As a result, it is always close at hand, eager to play, nibble, chew and scratch the swollen gums. The teether is on standby in the pocket, but it can also be easily detached, washed or cooled.
We have created our romper suit from a soft cotton knitted fabric designed by Magda with original prints by illustrator Karolina. The nickel-free press studs on both sides make it easy to put the garment on and will also help you with the care, which is extremely important for your baby’s development.

What is the deal with teething?
Tooth buds appear in the sixth week of foetal life. However, there is still a long way to go before parents can spot them in their little ones. The first visible teeth emerge around six months of age. This is a very individual process. Some babies might start teething at four months, while others are still not teething at eight months. This does not mean that they suffer from any discomfort. The initial symptoms of teething usually begin in the second or third month of life and can be recognised by drooling, restlessness and putting hands in the mouth. The most difficult time comes when the tooth begins to erupt from the bone, and at this point, most babies need support in the form of a teether or some painkillers. Cooling the gums or lubricating them with a gel is soothing. In the next and final stage, the gums plump up and the tooth breaks through. Each tooth is at a different level of growth and teething is a multi-stage process. At any given time, some emerge from the bone, some break through the gums, and others complete the growth process. The lower central incisors are the first to appear, then the upper incisors which are followed by the lateral incisors, canines and molars. The whole process can take up to three years.
Why is grip development so important?
The Teethany romper suit has another essential task, it trains the baby to grip, which is incredibly important for the development of fine motor skills. At birth, the baby has a grasp reflex, which disappears at eight weeks of age. Conscious grabbing occurs around the age of three months, at which point the baby learns to adapt the grip to the toy. The movement is planned using the maturity of the nervous system and the feed-forward mechanism (the process that enables a correct and effective movement after many unsuccessful attempts). Teethany is designed to engage the ambidextrous grip, which also influences the activity of both cerebral hemispheres
It is worth mentioning that manipulation of the toy stimulates the activity of the centres responsible for speech.
